In "The Employee," Jolanda Rendl captures a meditative moment of modern everyday life. The large-format oil painting (120 x 100 cm) depicts a person seen from behind, sitting cross-legged in front of a running washing machine. Rendl addresses the theme of "waiting" and the banal routines of household chores, but lends them an almost contemplative stillness through the tranquil composition.

Jolanda Rendl

Jolanda Rendl lives and works in Vienna and is currently studying painting in the Department of Art and Image/Expansion at the Academy of Fine Arts. In her artistic practice, she explores intimate everyday situations that are often perceived as banal, imbuing them with deeper meaning. Her aim is not only to depict external circumstances, but also to explore the psychological background of routine actions.

Her works are characterized by the use of patterns and repetitions that reinforce underlying themes while creating a sense of continuity. These recurring structures provide support and orientation in her creative process, inviting viewers to reconsider seemingly familiar experiences and question the meaning of everyday moments.
