  • Technique: Oil on wood
  • Dimensions: 34 x 49 cm

With "The eye of the tiger", Pia Weissinger presents an intense, small-format work on wood.

On a canvas measuring 34 x 49 cm, we see a tense encounter. A figure rendered in gray fixes its gaze on a bright green, snarling tiger's head. The title, a reference to the absolute will to fight, is given a psychological dimension here. Is the tiger a real threat or an inner demon that must be confronted?

Pia Weissinger

Pia Weissinger is a contemporary painter from Vienna, characterized by her psychologically precise and emotionally intense visual language. She lives and works in Vienna and will soon complete her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Daniel Richter. In her work, she explores the dark sides of human behavior and the complexity of life's abysses. She describes herself as a painter with the tenderness of a hatchet.
Weissinger uses her painting to tell stories of human snapshots, making psychological anxieties and inner conflicts visible. She always remains true to normality, which she treats with the tenderness of a hatchet.
Her works have been presented in various exhibitions, including "Ziffer im PDF" at the Krinzinger Schottenfeld Gallery in Vienna in July and August 2024, as well as "Rundgang 2024" at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the same year.
Weissinger's work is characterized by a psychological analysis of situations and examines the abyssal drives of people as well as the multifaceted nature of life's cruelties. Her art invites viewers to engage with the complex and often hidden aspects of human existence and to reflect on the multifaceted experience of being human.
